I moved to Salem in July and noticed I had no service anywhere around my home.
I thought that Sprint would be happy to let me out of my contract once I told them that the service was of no value to me.
Man! was I naive!
I spend an hour on the phone with them, getting passed around from one ineffective idiot to the next.
They tell me things like:
I show you as having service at that address. Like I am giving up my day, so I can sit on the phone Arguing with a CSR Losing more money than I would save if they let me out without a fight.
I believe that Sprint's policy is to keep you on the phone long enough that you'll eventually give up... |

I have been a Sprint customer for about eight years now. I have put up with all of the problems I've had with them because I didn't know any different. Recently I have heard friends telling me about how their cell companies are friendly and helpful when they have a problem and even would replace phones for free. To say the least I was shocked I never knew that cell phone companies could be helpful. I am leaving Sprint in November once they start prorating the cancellation fee. I am not sure which provider I will use, but I will tell anyone who will listen to NEVER get a contract with Sprint, because of the horrible customer service... |

Since NY is a major metro area as expected, coverage is decent. I've only been with Sprint, so my view is limited. Searching for reviews of the various cell services, leads me to think Sprint is fair/poor. T-mobile is better, but T-mobile has too many customer service problems. I believe the federal gov't should regulate all providers to open their towers to all providers. And force all cell phones to be able to work with all providers. You buy a phone, you should be able to use the phone with another provider after your 2-year contract ends. This will lead to better calls, better coverage (including international calling). Cellular providers will compete for your money with discount phone prices and better customer service. |
