James United States/Illinois/Decatur [Sep 30, 2007] Beware of prematurely terminating your contract with Cingular before its expiration. Due to continuious billing problems and terrible customer service support, I decided to cancel AT&T/Cingular service before my contract had expired. Two months after cancelling my contract I received a bill from Cingular for approximately $165 of charges with no details or explanation. With this said, I contacted their customer service and was then informed that the fees consisted of early termination charges. Without dispute I paid these charges by within the due date listed on the bill (and reiterated by the customer serive rep). Low and behold, two days after the payment was made in a Cingular and still within due date period, I receive notification from a collection agengy that my account had been turned over to them by Cingular.
I contacted Cingular about this and their reps stated that there was noting that they could do and that altough my account was paid in full I would be responsible for the additional fees of this collections agency. I have since written an email to their CEO (Steven Carter - carterceo@cingular.com) discribing this unbelievable customer service blunder. If no resolve from Mr. Carter the next step is the Better Business Bureau. Although, one individual will probably not have an immediate effect on this company...ultimately enough peopel will join together to stop this type of unethical business practice. |
Steve United States/WA/Richland [Sep 29, 2007] never knew what dropped calls were until I switched to Cingular. I'm told that I'm in the middle of an area with excellent service but have none at my home with any of 4 different makes\models phones. Reception isn't guarenteed in the home but mine sucks outside as well. I live in town with no surrounding buildings, hills valleys no reason to not have recp and Cingular\ATT doesn't care. Phone support is dismal. Spent over an hour of phone tree and lower level support to get to tech support and 30 minutes holding for them. dropped calls 3 times talking to support and they had to call me back but told me no recp problems in my area. Been complaining about once a month for 6 months at local cingular\ATT store but they don't care either. Spending $150 a month for worthless service. Had great cell service for 12 years with US cellular but switched when son went to college and they didn't have local service there. Will swith back at end of contract. Avoid cingulat\ATT |
Adena Kelley United States/Texas/Athens [Sep 24, 2007] Absolutely no coverage at home or work. It is spotty at best on the road. Calls that do go through are inevitably dropped. Phone keeps switching to Emergency Calls Only, I have to shut off and turn back on. This phone is supposed to be for my protection when I am out alone in the car, the most I could do if I got in trouble is throw the phone at someone and hope it knocks them out. I hate Cingular! |
